As the series progresses, we learn about the Devils that are fighting in the seven councils. We are first taken to the heavens where Paris==>Dante==>Moses teaches us about love and pity. We are then taken to the catacombs where we learn about the Heavenly Youth and their powers. We are then taken to the catacombs where we learn about the Heavenly Women and their powers. Finally, we are taken to the city of Celaeno where we learn about the title devils and their powers. The series does a great job of introducing us to these concepts and bringing us to a understanding of them. We then move on to fight the devils in Celaeno. The episode is short and only lasts about an hour and a half. It is not a long anime like S3 where you feel like you are stuck with them for years on end. The ending is very satisfying too.
